The most engaged sectors on Facebook

What gets people talking? Heed these industries with the chattiest fans on the social network.

In addition to dressing a bit more smartly, we could all take another cue from the fashion industry—namely, how to boost Facebook engagement.

Fashion-savvy brands have the strongest and most social communities on Facebook, according to an infographic from Socialbakers.

Measuring activity from 5,000 Facebook users during one month, the graphic shows that fans of fashion, automobile, and e-commerce pages take the top three spots when it comes to total interactions, total “likes,” and total comments.

For industries in which new lines are introduced every day and high product turnover is likely, the findings come with no surprise.

When it comes to total shares, however, fast-moving consumer goods led the pack, followed by the nonprofit and travel sectors. Socialbakers notes that the data were collected in the summer, when more people travel and share their experiences.

The social media analytics company plans to revisit its study during autumn to see if the data hold up.
