Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who’s contemplating a run for presidents, asked conservatives to follow him on “Tweeter.” Was Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, who is an opponent of gay rights, wrong to use Katy Perry’s “Firework” as her campaign anthem—a song that is a pro-tolerance anthem of self-empowerment? Google managed 1 billion (that’s a one followed by nine zeros—1,000,000,000) unique visitors in May, setting an unprecedented benchmark for an Internet company. Meanwhile, Facebook maintains the lead for time spent on its site by users. So, you just got an iPhone. Well, it’s already outdated. Apple plans to introduce a new version of its cult-like mobile device come September. Jack in the Box is removing toys from its kids’ meals. Odd move because a Jack in the Box is, in fact, a child’s toy. The fast food chain will instead offer Chiquita Apple Bites. Lame attempt at healthful marketing, Jack—lame! Seems Banana Republic can’t wait for next season to start either—introducing, the “Mad Men” collection. If I had my own character-inspired clothing line, I’d sign-on for three more seasons too, Don Draper Jon Hamm. If he could just win an Emmy. Stride Gum goes for the “longest lasting streak of long lasting records,” encouraging its supporters on Facebook, YouTube to help the brand break 100 different capricious records.
