To entice consumers, McDonald’s tests Sriracha, Nutella

The fast-food chain is testing some sweet and tangy new flavors with the hopes of grabbing some new—and younger—restaurant-goers. Here are details.

Millennials are said to love Sriracha sauce. McDonald’s wants millennials to love its burgers. Can you picture what might be in the middle of that Venn diagram?

McDonald’s will expand its test of a Sriracha Big Mac. Ohio is the latest market to be graced with its spiciness, with 126 restaurants making available their Sriracha Big Mac sauce for burgers or fry/nugget dipping.

This is the first Sriracha Big Mac test off the West Coast. Previously, it hit markets in Los Angeles, San Diego and Seattle. With any McDonald’s test item, it’s possible that it could see nationwide rollout.

In Italy, the company is testing another new burger product—this time on the dessert side.

Dubbed the “Sweety,” Italian McDonald’s now offers Nutella in between two burger buns.
