To reach health-focused consumers, Nestle adjusts chocolate recipe

The food company is making a few changes to the way it crafts a few of its key products. Here’s how—and what candy-loving consumers should note.

As government agencies worldwide work to combat obesity, Nestle execs are trying to get ahead of the curve and adjusting some of it products.

The global food giant has announced a way to reduce the amount of sugar in its chocolate products—while retaining sweetness. Nestle says it has a process that will alter sugar’s composition to make it sweeter in smaller amounts.

The company’s chief technology officer, Stefan Catsicas, stopped short of telling media outlets how the process will work, but he did offer the following statement to Bloomberg.com:
