Twitter teams up with Apple, Microsoft for live streaming services
Leading up to the platform’s first Thursday Night Football NFL game, social media execs want to smooth out the live streaming process. Here’s their plan.
Twitter’s push toward live streaming has encountered one primary problem: Users don’t always want to watch lengthy videos on their mobile devices.
Twitter execs are fixing that issue with an app.
It’s designed for watching its live streamed content via Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Microsoft Xbox.
Users will be able to watch video content via the app for free, and it’s already available in some markets.
“These devices will bring Twitter’s live streaming video experience to life on the TV screen,” Twitter CFO, Anthony Noto, said in a statement. “Twitter has always been a great complement to TV, and now fans can enjoy even more premium video with live Tweets — and the best content on Twitter — right from their TVs.”
