CNN is reporting that Tribune Co.—which publishes the Chicago Tribune, the Los Angeles Times, the Baltimore Sun, and others—is developing a tablet that it will offer free or heavily subsidized to readers who sign up for extended subscriptions. It could also include a wireless data plan.
The tablet would run on a version of Google’s Android operating system, according to CNN. The device would heavily feature local content from Tribune properties.
