3 ways to celebrate Community Manager Appreciation Day

It’s easy to join the #CMAD festivities online and in person.

Community managers are part cheerleader, part dispute mediator, part strategist, part; oh, the list goes on and on… Who are we kidding? You do it all! Community Manager Appreciation Day is Monday, Jan. 27, and it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate all that you do with your peers. We’ve rounded up some online and in-person opportunities: Social Media Club Chicago is hosting a shindig at Rockit Bar and Grill in downtown Chicago from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. You’ll hear from a panel of community managers and learn best practices and tools to help monitor and engage your online community. The event is sponsored by the lovely folks at Sprout Social. In San Francisco? Ally Greer, community manager at Scoop.it, and Carrie Jones, co-organizer of San Francisco Community Managers, will be hosting a CMAD happy hour at the Scoop.it offices. Can’t make it to San Francisco or Chicago? We’ve got you covered. The team at My Community Manager is partnering with community managers and companies from around the world to host a 24 Hour Hangout. Anyone can join in online to watch one or all 24 of the hourlong hangouts, or join the conversation on Twitter using #CMAD #cmgrhangout.

The Huffington Post‘s director of community Tim McDonald says, “We, for the first time, have a theme to help advance the discussion beyond just a day. The theme this year is ‘The Evolution Of The Community Manager.'” This event also features Ragan Communications’ own social media director, Samantha Hosenkamp.
