It’s essential that you have a skill set that sets you apart in a talent pool flooded with qualified candidates vying for the same position as you.

Which skills make you most marketable in 2019?

On LinkedIn’s Talent Blog, Gregory Lewis cites LinkedIn data in his piece, “The Most In-Demand Hard and Soft Skills of 2019.”

He explains the methodology for compiling the list:

“The skills companies need most” was determined by looking at skills that are in high demand relative to their supply. Demand is measured by identifying the skills listed on the LinkedIn profiles of people who are getting hired at the highest rates. Only cities with 100,000 LinkedIn members were included.

Lewis distinguishes between hard skills and soft skills. Hard skills relate to your technical ability to complete a task or job. Soft skills, on the other hand, deal more with the intangible traits that make you invaluable to an organization, such as communication and creativity.

Here are the top five hard skills employers will be looking for in 2019, according to the piece:

  1. Cloud computing
  2. Artificial intelligence
  3. Analytical reasoning
  4. People management
  5. UX design

The piece lists the top five soft skills that make you a desirable candidate:

  1. Creativity
  2. Persuasion
  3. Collaboration
  4. Adaptability
  5. Time management
