Of course, all relationships are give and take, and it’s important that you focus on giving back to reporters as much as you can. How can you do that? It’s pretty easy and doesn’t have to take a lot of time or energy.

Here are four simple ways to show reporters a little love and improve your relationships with them in the process.

Comment on their stories.

Commenting on stories does a number of things. First, it gets the attention of the reporters, most of whom closely monitor the comments on the stories they write. So when you leave a comment with your name attached to it, you instantly get on a reporter’s radar.

Leaving a comment also shows the reporter that you’re paying attention to what he or she covers, so it boosts the writer’s ego a bit.

Finally, commenting can be a good way to interact with a reporter and start a conversation.
