Google’s PR chief jumps to Twitter

And his tweet announcing the move kicked up a small PR kerfuffle.

Stricker announced the move Wednesday night in a tweet: “I’m thrilled to be joining Twitter—and thankful for my time at Google. Both are more than just companies. They’re movements.”

That tweet kicked up some controversy on Thursday, with some media outlets—including the New York Daily News—suggesting it was Stricker’s first-ever tweet. Turns out, it was his first from that account. On his blog Uncrunched, Michael Arrington said Stricker had previously tweeted from a private account.

At Google, Stricker reportedly encouraged Google’s Marissa Mayer to announced the company’s acquisition of Zagat last year in a haiku.
