‘A landmark day for the PR industry’

The U.K.’s Public Relations Consultants Association launched an apprenticeship program. One PR pro called it ‘the single most important development in the industry since the social media revolution.’

The Public Relations Consultants Association (PRCA) and Pearson in Practice, a division of the global firm Pearson, unveiled an apprenticeship program for the PR industry that will reportedly include roughly £1.2m from the British government.

The program is designed to provide non-gradates with “a clear, structured and industry recognized career path into the industry,” according to PRCA.

Simon Francis, a PR professional in London, celebrated the announcement.

“Today is a landmark day for the PR industry,” he wrote on his blog. “Today sees the single most important development in the industry since the social media revolution.”
