The group met in Orlando this week, and among the topics discussed was how Republicans can more effectively speak about the Occupy movement.
Few would argue against the notion that Republicans think that capitalism good. But to many of those of the Occupy mindset: Capitalism = bad.
Yahoo News sat in on the session led by GOP strategist Frank Luntz and got a rare glimpse of how a party crafts its message. Here are 10 key takeaways from that session:
1. Don’t say “capitalism.”
2. Don’t say that the government “taxes the rich.” Instead, tell them that the government “takes from the rich.”
3. Republicans should forget about winning the battle over the “middle class.” Call them “hardworking taxpayers.”
4. Don’t talk about “jobs.” Talk about “careers.”
