Accusations, jokes fly after Target Canada closing announcement

The retail chain has chosen to close all 133 of its stores in the country, less than two years after expanding northward. Employees say they had no idea it was coming.

Target announced Thursday that it would close all 133 of its stores in Canada. Apparently, that was news to many of the chain’s Canadian employees.

“We had no clue,” Jeff Brierly, a manager at the Target in Kingston, Ontario, told the Kingston Whig-Standard. “We found out today like you did.” CJAD, a news talk radio station in Montreal, offered similar quotes from unnamed employees.
