Amazon keeps mum amid reports of removing gender categories for toys

Reports that the online retailer had dropped the ‘boys’ and ‘girls’ categories for its toys section spread across the Web this week, but Amazon didn’t comment for any of them.

Amazon took a major step in its toys department this week, but the online retailer isn’t trumpeting the change.

On Sunday, Twitter user Jack Danger sent this message, proclaiming that Amazon had gotten rid of the “boys” and “girls” labels in the toys section of its website:

This week Amazon eliminated the gendered taxonomy of toys: http://t.co/fn8Afi7Kvq There are no more “boys” and “girls” sections!
