Blog names Electronic Arts the worst company in America
It edged out Bank of America, Carnival Cruise Line, multiple cable companies, and more.
That company is Electronic Arts—makers of the Madden NFL, Mass Effect, Sims and FIFA video game franchises—which the Consumerist blog dubbed the absolute worst company in America after taking 78 percent of its readers’ votes.
The company was criticized recently after those who purchased Sim City 5 learned that you have to be connected to the Web to play. Its most recent incarnation of Mass Effect was widely panned by gamers, who claimed the company rushed it to market. EA even released an updated version of the game with an “improved” ending.
Another point of criticism is the $60 price tag EA puts on many of its games, combined with the increase of in-game advertisements.
To determine the worst company, the Consumerist pits companies against each other in a March Madness style tournament. EA edged out organizations such as Bank of America, Carnival, Ticketmaster, and multiple cable companies in the vote.
