Bye-bye IT: Reader’s Digest to outsource entire IT operation to India

Reader’s Digest said it will outsource its entire IT operation to Indian-based company, HCL Technologies. The seven-year deal will cost Reader’s Digest $350,000 million and covers everything from infrastructure to applications. In January, Reader’s Digest said it would eliminate about 280 employees, or 8 percent of its workforce. No word on whether the layoffs and the outsourcing are related.
