Chevron apologizes for fracking well explosion with pizza coupons

After a Feb. 11 explosion rocked Bobtown, Pa., the company issued vouchers for a large pie and a two-liter soda at the local pizzeria.

Sunday, Bobtown residents received a letter from Chevron Appalachia Community Outreach that included the energy company’s token of apology: a coupon for a free large pizza and a two-liter soda at Bobtown Pizza. The letter reads, in part:

Chevron recognizes the effect this has had on the community. We value being a responsible member of this community and will continue to strive to achieve incident-free operations. We are committed to taking action to safeguard our neighbors, our employees, our contractors and the environment.
