Data breach affecting 1.1 million credit cards hits Staples
As a year full of retailer data breaches reaches it end, the chain of office supply stores has announced yet another.
Staples is the latest company to fall victim to hackers, as it revealed late Friday afternoon (nice try, Staples—we all still saw it) that the credit card numbers of more than a million customers were compromised.
According to Bloomberg, the breaches occurred between July and September at 115 of its more than 1,400 stores. In response, Staples has taken the same tack as many other retailers hit by breaches and offered free identity protection services to anyone who was affected.
If you shopped at Staples between July and September, you can check this list to see if yours was one of the 115 stores targeted.
