Designer’s comments cause PR problem for Natalie Portman

An anti-Semitic rant from Christian Dior designer John Galliano has the Oscar winner running for cover.

French clothing company Christian Dior announced Tuesday that it would fire chief designer John Galliano in the wake of a video showing him waxing anti-Semitic at a bar in Paris.

Dior CEO Sidney Toledano released this statement:

“I condemn most firmly the statements made by John Galliano which are a total contradiction with the essential values that have always been defended by the House of Christian Dior.”

Natalie Portman finds herself in the middle of it all.

She recently signed a deal to represent Miss Dior Cherie perfume, and a question from a reporter at Sunday’s Academy Awards was deflected—a move which drew even more attention to the issue than if it had been allowed.
