With investors fearing the worst, today’s report on employment for the month of July came in better than expected. U.S. payrolls added 117,000 jobs, and the unemployment rate ticked down one-tenth of a point, to 9.1 percent.

Not great, but better than expected.

Mere moments after the numbers hit the wire, House Speaker John Boehner’s office sent a blistering press release, slamming the president and his party for their “spending, taxing, and regulating” that is “devastating” the economy.
