Do you write ‘Thanks for your interest’ in blind e-mail pitches?

A company, whose name was redacted from this post, sent an e-mail with a short note and press release to journalists and bloggers. The final sentence of the note really bugged one blogger. It said, “Thank you for your interest in COMPANY X, LLC.” The blogger, PR pro Bob LeDrew, remarked, “To the best of my knowledge, I’ve never expressed interest in this company.” Is LeDrew’s beef with this pitch legit?
