ESPN suspends Keith Olbermann after Twitter row

The anchor called Penn State University students ‘pitiful’ when an alum sent him a link to a story about students raising more than $13 million for a pediatric cancer charity.

At least to start, 2015 seems to be the year of the embattled anchor.

First, there was NBC anchor Brian Williams’ claim that he was on a helicopter that was shot with a rocket-propelled grenade in Iraq, which turned out to be an embellishment. He has been suspended for six months.

Fox News anchor Bill O’ Reilly is fighting claims that he lied about witnessing the suicide of the friend of John F. Kennedy’s assassin, as well as the controversy over his news coverage during the Falklands War. Fox has taken no action.

The latest case involves ESPN’s Keith Olbermann, who got into a confusing Twitter spat with a group of Penn State University students Monday night.
