Explaining why your company sold censoring technology to Iran

The Wall Street Journal reported Monday that a joint venture between Nokia and Siemens sold technology to Iran, which has allowed the country to censor Internet communications. It fell to Ben Roome, the Nokia-Siemens spokesperson, to explain the deal. “We believe providing people, wherever they are, with the ability to communicate is preferable to leaving them without the choice to be heard,” he said. Atlantic Monthly called this its “PR Quote of the Day.”
