Facebook Messenger adds Snap-like camera

The social media messaging app is updating a few features. Here’s what is coming—and when users can expect to see the changes.

The list of Snap Inc.-inspired features on Facebook continues to expand.

Messenger is the latest Facebook app to adopt a feature that Snapchat made popular. Messenger Camera will now let users to add texts, drawings, stickers, filters and frames to photos that they send to other individual users. It will also offer animated “masks” that users can add to their photos. All users can access the update on Dec. 21.

Here’s how it’ll work:

Unlike Snapchat photos, those sent using Messenger Camera do not disappear.
