‘Girl with Cancer’ asks Joseph Gordon-Levitt out and gets more than she expected

After asking the actor on a date in a video that went viral, 26-year-old Lindsey Miller received $10,000 in donations from the public to help with medical bills.

That’s the question everybody has been asking me, after my friend and former co-worker at Ragan Communications asked the movie star out for coffee.

Lindsey Miller, age 26, has cancer and thought it would be fun to connect to the star of the movie, “50/50.” The 36-second video we created has garnered more than 300,000 views.

And especially after movie-star Jason Segel said “yes” to a Chicago girl who asked him on a date, we thought we might hear back from the JGL crew.

Well, no. We haven’t heard anything.

But really, it doesn’t matter.

Here’s what does: After Miller’s video went viral, a lot of people asked how they could help her. We set up a fundraising tab on her blog, along with a Give Forward account to get people involved.

From the kindness of strangers on the Internet, Miller has raised $10,000 to pay for her medical bills.
