Gmail users no longer have to join Google Plus
Google dropped its Google Plus requirement for Gmail users. Does this change mean the social network is becoming less important?

Google has been heavily criticized for essentially forcing users of its Gmail service and those who want to comment on Youtube videos to sign up for a Google Plus account.
The company is now pulling back on that requirement by not requiring Gmail users to sign up for the social network.
It could be a sign that Google is minimizing the role of Google Plus, or simply a sign that they’re listening to users that only wanted an email address—not another social media profile.
