Google exec: Egypt ‘revolution started on Facebook’

Wael Ghonim, the Google marketing exec turned protester, told CNN he’d like to thank Mark Zuckerberg on behalf of the Egyptian people.

Among the protestors is Wael Ghonim, a Google marketing exec in Cairo. In an interview with CNN on Friday, Ghonim acknowledged Mark Zuckerberg for Facebook’s role in helping topple Mubarak. Ghonim said:

“I want to meet Mark Zuckerberg one day and thank him…. I’m talking on behalf of Egypt. This revolution started online. This revolution started on Facebook.”
