Google shuts down ‘Map Maker’ editing after vandalism
The team temporarily suspended the feature, citing a ‘backlog that is growing very fast.’
The move comes just a few weeks after someone inserted a Google Android logo that appeared to be urinating on an Apple logo.
Google apologized that the edit was able to make its way into Google Maps. Originally, Map Maker was supposed to allow users to help Google keep up with the earth’s changing landscape.
Leave it to the Internet to ruin a good idea.
