Heinz is selling its fancy new ketchup on Facebook

Social media has enabled ketchup connoisseurs, like the author, to buy Heinz’s balsamic vinegar ketchup before it hit stores. Turns out good things don’t always come to those who wait.

Well, my country bumpkins, it appears Christmas has come early, y’all.

Heinz is releasing its balsamic-ketchup hybrid in the states and planning a similar approach to its European rollout. The New York Times reports that starting Nov. 14, Heinz fans and ketchup connoisseurs will be able to buy the product on the brand’s Facebook page before supermarkets stock their shelves with it in late December.

The new ketchup, which will only be available in the company’s iconic 14-oz glass bottle, is slated to be in stores until March 2012, although depending upon sales—and probably the way it tastes—Heinz could grant Balsamic Vinegar a permanent place on its product roster.
