Hot trend in PR: Working with startups

Or so says The New York Observer. Of course, some have questioned whether startups need publicists.

As tech startups continue to pop up trying to be the next Facetwitgooglepon, they need publicity. So where do they turn? A burgeoning sector of PR firms that specialize in creating buzz for startups, reports The New York Observer.

Included among these firms, according to the Observer‘s BetaBeat section, are “Edelman, The Morris + King Company, Small Girls PR, Brooke Hammerling and Brew Media Relations, LaunchSquad, Atomic PR and Sunshine Sachs …” These are all New York firms that handle startups.

But some, including Dallas Mavericks owner and startup investor Mark Cuban, don’t believe that tech startups need PR firms. Still others believe that’s a downright myth.
