This is what IR Insight, the research arm of IR magazine, learned in a survey this year of more than 1,000 corporate IR professionals from around the world. It was the largest survey of the global IR community ever conducted, and it revealed the intricacies of IR practices in different countries and for businesses of varying sizes (as measured by market capitalization).
The full report, “Global IR practice survey,” is slated for release in early November (and is available for pre-order). Here’s an early look at some of the findings (plus an infographic):
1. Investors. Nearly nine out of 10 (87.5 percent) of IR officers in North America report that their investors are from their region, according to the data from IR Insight. Local investors hit 76 percent for Europe, 51.7 percent for Asia, and 45 percent for Latin America. In Asia, 19 percent of investors, are state-owned companies, with another 4.8 percent sovereign wealth funds.
