Job-seekers, here’s one tip to vastly improve your chances

A recent call for applicants taught a big name in the PR world that people—even those who really want a job—are careless. Don’t be one of those people.

Don’t work against yourself by making careless mistakes in the application process.

Take, for instance, a recent call for applications from Peter Shankman, founder of Help A Reporter Out (HARO). He is searching for a new assistant editor for HARO, and during the process he observed a slew of avoidable mistakes.

The directions for applicants were simple and the directions were outlined clearly, he explained in a blog post. Yet a large number of applicants were dropped from the search for simple, avoidable mistakes.
