LinkedIn hires rookie to lead investor relations
The social network tapped Matt Sonefeldt to be its first in-house investor relations officer. It will be a new role for Sonefeldt, an elementary school teacher turned analyst.

Sonefeldt, who is manager of investor relations, reports to LinkedIn’s CFO, Steve Sordello.
IR is a new role for Sonefeldt, though he has plenty of experience interacting with investor relations professionals. In his six and a half years as an analyst, he followed a number of large-cap tech and semiconductor companies.
What’s interesting is that Sonefeldt had a life before finance, showing that nontraditional backgrounds can still lead to big and interesting IR positions. He was an elementary school teacher in Washington as part of AmeriCorps.
