Macy’s blames customers for Thanksgiving opening

Stores will open their doors at 8 p.m. on the holiday because it’s what shoppers want, the company says. Employees must be thrilled

The poll’s results aren’t public knowledge, but it’s pretty easy to guess what employees would have wanted.

Well, it seems Macy’s management doesn’t particularly give a flying hoot what its employees prefer—they’re going to work Thanksgiving night. Stores will open at 8 p.m. It’s another instance in an increasingly long and absurd line of stories about retailers opening on Thanksgiving—a day generally reserved for family time.

Consumerist calls 8 p.m. “obscenely early,” but Macy’s corporate is blaming you, fair consumer.
