PR firm abruptly closes after sexual harassment claims against founder surface
Employees were told on Thursday that they were to be out by the end of the day. Its founder promised to ‘once again regain the trust that was lost.’
The news comes in response to allegations that its president and owner, Trevor Fitzgibbon, sexually assaulted and harassed numerous female employees.
The firm, known for driving progressive issues in Washington and around the country—including gun safety, reproductive and women’s rights and first amendment rights—closed its doors within hours of a note that was sent to employees and clients.
The Huffington Post broke the story on Thursday afternoon, and included the following response from Trevor Fitzgibbon:
It is with tremendous regret that we had to close FitzGibbon Media. Our team was at the helm of many of the most important policy debates of our time. We were the undisputed communications leader for the progressive movement. Although the company is closing, our talents and our mission remain unchanged.
