Public perception of funding for public broadcasting is way off

Many Americans are way off in their estimates of how much taxpayer money the Corporation for Public Broadcasting gets. Time to call in The Count from “Sesame Street.”

That means several people in the poll think that, as Salon.com points out, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting budget is $178 billion. That’s billion with a B.

Salon includes some suggestions of how it would use that type of money—including broadcasting “Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me!” from the moon.
