RadioShack stays mum amid reports of its demise

News organizations reported this week that both Sprint and Amazon were considering buying stores from the troubled company, whose stock was suspended from trading Monday.

RadioShack may soon be no more, but you wouldn’t know it from the retail chain’s communications.

Citing unnamed sources, Bloomberg reported Monday that RadioShack is in discussions with wireless phone provider Sprint to sell off half its stores and close the rest. “The locations sold to Sprint would operate under the wireless carrier’s name, meaning RadioShack would cease to exist as a stand-alone retailer,” the report states.

A co-branding plan has also come up in the discussions, according to Bloomberg.

Other reports, such as this one from The Verge, say Amazon might be looking to buy up RadioShack stores after the retailer files for bankruptcy.
