Jessica Kartalija currently serves as a national correspondent for NewsNation. She joined the network in September 2025 and is based at the network’s New York bureau.

An Emmy Award-winning journalist, Ms. Kartalija previously served as an anchor at WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to 6abc’s Action News, she was an anchor for CBS3 in Philadelphia for six years. During her tenure at the local CBS station, she was awarded the 2024 “Television Broadcaster of the Year” by the Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters.

Previously, she spent 18 years as an anchor for CBS News in Baltimore, Maryland. She began her career as a reporter for KYMA-TV in Yuma, Arizona.

Outside the newsroom, Ms. Kartalija is an adjunct professor of public speaking and journalism at Villanova University. She has also appeared on TV series and films, including, HBO’s Servant, Netflix’s House of Cards, and Transformers.

A native of San Diego, she graduated from Penn State University’s Bellisario College of Journalism with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in Spanish. In 2016, she earned a master’s degree in marketing communications and media studies from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
