Kami Spangenberg

Kami Spangenberg is vice president for Corporate Communications, Scientific Stature Services and Community Affairs for RTI International, the largest scientific research institute in the Southeast. In this role, she is responsible for strategic communications planning and program implementation, delivery of research information and publishing services, and community affairs spanning charitable giving and outreach.  With considerable experience in brand and reputation, Kami is an expert in crisis communications and complex issues management. Prior to RTI, she worked as a change communications consultant in the energy sector, a communications principal in pharmaceutical and supply chain consulting practices, and as both a corporate communications director and a global marketing director in the telecommunications field. She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Clemson University, both in English.

Kami considers her primary role to be corporate cheerleader, believing in people and championing their dreams. Collaborating with talented people united in service of a mission for global good fulfills her professionally. That and she must laugh every single day. In 2023, Spangenberg was recognized as a Top Women in Communications by Ragan Communications.
