Katie Curnutte

Former SVP of communications and public affairs - Zillow

Katie Curnutte spent 11 years at Zillow, where she led the communications, government relations and public affairs teams (most recently as senior vice president of communications and public Affairs). She moved to Seattle and started at Zillow in 2008, after a prior life as a journalist covering real estate. When Curnutte started, Zillow had about 150 employees and zero marketing budget. She built Zillow’s “data PR” program using the company’s information about the housing market to build the Zillow brand. During her tenure as communications and public affairs head, Zillow had its IPO; acquired 15 companies, including Zillow’s biggest competitor at the time; faced numerous crises; and most importantly, created a household brand.
