And by that we mean in a senior communications role at the company—not the kind you write on your friends’ walls.

According to the Times, the deal is still in its early stages, but people briefed on the matter have made it clear negotiations have begun.

Gibbs, who left his post at the White House in February, planned on aiding Obama’s reelection campaign before joining the private sector, the Times reported. Facebook reportedly wants Gibbs to “consider the job more quickly.”

The Times said the Facebook gig could be worth millions for Gibbs.
