Social media and BlackBerrys fueled London riots
According to numerous media reports, tweets and BlackBerry Messenger messages inflamed the violence in the British capitol over the weekend.

According to the Daily Mail, “There was concern that the disturbances were fanned by Twitter, with some of those taking part posting inflammatory comments from the scene and calling for reinforcements.
“One picture of a police car on fire in the area was retweeted more than 100 times on the social networking site within an hour.”
Still other sites suggest that Twitter wasn’t the only culprit in helping offenders fan the flames.
TechCrunch states that “BlackBerrys have become the weapon of choice of Britain’s disaffected youth.”
