Spirit promotion playing on Weiner sex scandal—again
The travel carrier and cheeky marketer is offering discounts on selected flights to Mexico with a wink and a nod to the politician’s salacious pseudonym, Carlos Danger.
And yes, that’s capital-D Danger, as in Carlos, as in Anthony Weiner’s randy online alias.
Spirit is piling on Anthony Weiner’s latest tawdry online exchanges with a promotion it calls “The Weiner Rises Again”—a $24 discount on flights to Cancun or Los Cabos, Mexico.
As Digiday points out, this is the second time Spirit has used Weiner’s misadventures in its marketing. At the height of the former congressman’s prior public disgrace, the carrier offered $9 fares that were “too HARD to resist.”
