Target sticks to LGBT stance after 500,000 boycott the brand

The retail chain said that its policy allowing transgender customers to use the bathroom with which they identify would stand because ‘everyone deserves to feel like they belong.’

Target is standing behind its policy to allow transgender customers to use the restroom that aligns with their gender identity amid a flurry of backlash.

Among the policy’s most vocal critics is the American Family Association, which called on its members to boycott the Minneapolis-based retail chain. A petition from the organization has more than half a million signatures.

“The American Family Association is calling for a boycott of Target after the retail giant said it would allow men to use the women’s restrooms and dressing rooms in their stores,” the petition states. “This means a man can simply say he ‘feels like a woman today’ and enter the women’s restroom…even if young girls or women are already in there.” RELATED: Learn 13 tips to prepare for a crisis in this free download.
