The ‘hockey shot’ that sparked a PR problem (by proxy) for AllState

Angry fans are blaming the insurer for a decision it had nothing to do with. (You have to see this video.)

For Richard Marsch, it certainly was ridiculous.

After vowing to donate the $50,000 prize to the St. Vincent Heart Center of Indiana, which had fixed the 73-year-old’s heart in 2007, Marsch nailed the 175-foot shot. Marsch’s celebration was cut short, however, when the insurance company that underwrote the contest refused to pay because Marsch was past the line when he shot the puck.
