Time, Arby’s embrace ridicule

The magazine responded to online snickering at its latest cover by posting an article with editors’ favorite Photoshops of it. Arby’s said goodbye to ‘Daily Show’ host Jon Stewart in similar fashion.

The cover of Time’s Aug. 17 issue—which features Oculus Rift creator Palmer Luckey wearing a virtual reality headset while seemingly floating above a beach—hasn’t been well received.

PC Gamer called it “the greatest threat to VR.” The Register called it “moronic” and said it would set virtual reality back at least 12 months. USA Today‘s headline trumpeted simply that “no one likes” the cover.

As is often the case when people think an image looks silly, the cover quickly became a meme on Twitter. The Daily Dot even isolated the image of Luckey to make it easier for people to Photoshop him into other images:
