Time spent on apps surpasses that of time on websites

App use has nearly doubled in the past year, a new report says. Does this signal a sea change?

Marking a major shift in how people receive content, consumers are now spending more time using mobile apps than they are on websites, a new report says.

According to the Flurry report (which uses data from comScore, Alexa, and Flurry Analytics), consumers in June spent 74 minutes per day on websites compared with 81 minutes using applications. App use has nearly doubled from 43 minutes per day last June, the report noted.
