Twitter officially appoints Jack Dorsey as its chief exec
The social media platform’s interim CEO is now leading the company long term, and announced a few new features along with his promotion.
The man who co-founded Twitter in 2006 will officially take the helm, juggling the responsibility with his duties as CEO of mobile payment company Square.
Twitter also named Adam Bain chief of revenue, while its ex-CEO, Dick Costolo, has reportedly left the company’s board of directors.
The moves come as Twitter’s growth has slowed dramatically and the company looks to compete for ad dollars with platforms like Facebook and Instagram, which have significantly more users.
Naturally, Dorsey shared the news in a series of tweets:

We are naming @adambain COO of Twitter, we’re working to change the composition of our Board, and I will serve as CEO of Twitter and Square!
