Want to start a PR shop? All you need is a phone and computer

A PR pro, concerned about looming layoffs at his or her agency, wrote to the Fort Wayne Journal Gazette asking if, and how, he or she can start a boutique PR firm with no startup funds. Here’s the short answer from Bruce Freeman, president of ProLine Communications, a marketing and public relations firm in Livingston, N.J.: “If you already have experience as a publicist and some media contacts, you can start your own PR business without a huge investment. All you need is a phone and computer.”
