Was eMusic’s PR department asleep at the switch?
The Web site eMusic has developed into a successful source for online indie music, where users pay a subscription to download a limited number of songs each month. This week, the site made two announcements and the reaction was quick and universally negative, said TechDirt . First, eMusic announced that it had inked a deal with Sony to sell part of the record label’s music catalogue. Then, in a much quieter announcement, eMusic said it was raising its prices.
